The article "Why Many Americans Aren’t Benefiting from a Robust U.S. Economy," the disconnect between economic growth and personal financial stability is illuminated through several critical factors. Issues such as insufficient family support and leave policies, rising educational requirements for jobs, and escalating student debt all contribute to this disparity. I can personally relate to these struggles, having had to take out student loans to In finance my education while juggling work to cover my bills.

During my job search, I’ve observed that many positions in my field offer lower salaries than they did in the past, despite now requiring advanced degrees like a master’s. Even with a bachelor’s degree, entry-level…

There are many key factors as to why Americans are not benefitting from this "robust economy." Meanwhile, unemployment was at a low of 3.8% in the year 2000. This has transitioned with time, as more and more Americans are entering college, due to the lack of employment now for those with only high school degrees.  This has hurt America, as many major life events for young adult Americans to occur like buying homes, cars, and having children. This delay is occurring due to the large amounts of loans college students face in order to earn their degree. Overall, in the early 2000's the economy was incredibly strong until the recession. For my final blog comment, I chose to talk about the article titled "Why many Americans aren't benefiting from robust U.S. economy". In this article, Josh Boak aims to show the reality of life in America despite the economy seeming to do well, "the numbers that colelctively sketch a picture of a vibrant economy don't reflect reality for a range of Americans who still feel far from financially secure even nine years inot an economic expansion". Boak uses examples of citizens such as Katy Cole and information from analytics and states that "the bottom 60 percent of earners was essentially drawing on their savings...their incomes weren't enough to cover expenses". This shows that despite the economy doing well, a lot…

For my fifth and final blog comment, I headed to the Inequality section and found a post with a title of “Why many Americans aren’t benefiting from robust U.S. economy”. Clicking on this link brought me to an article of the same title by Josh Boak. In this article, it is highlighted how the economic figures seen in the US do not reflect the realities that many Americans face as they do not feel even close to financially secure even after economic growth in the country. Boak agrees with these Americans, and provides statistics on how the way many Americans feel is right, even giving personal accounts from people who feel directly affected. He mentions Katy Cole, who is 33…

For my TeachEcoknowmics Blog five, I decided to read Josh Boak's "Why Many Americans aren't Benefiting from Robust U.S. Economy.” This article discusses how despite the overall positive indicators of a robust U.S. economy, many Americans are not experiencing significant financial benefits. It highlights different factors contributing to this disparity, including: financial strain, rising expenses, wealth inequality, education and employment, and child care costs. Despite low unemployment rates and other positive economic indicators, many Americans are struggling financially. Gasoline prices have surged, putting pressure on commuters. The housing market is challenging for potential homebuyers due to high demand and low supply, resulting in soaring prices. Mortgage rates have also increased, making homeownership less affordable. While the overall net worth of…
