This article talks about how the world changed from an unipolar world into a multipolar world. Prior to the Soviet war, it was a bipolar world.  The world became largely dominated by the United States after the Soviet war. The United States used to make up half of the world's economy, but now it only makes up 15% of the economy. The article also talks about how a multipolar world does not mean multiple countries have an equal part in the economy. Instead, one country, such as America, will likely still dominate the economic space, but there will still be other large countries that make an impact on it. I thought this article was very interesting because it reminded me…

For my second blog comment, I chose the Globalization section and picked this article because the political art caught my attention. These propaganda cartoons have so much symbolism and meaning even without words. It's interesting to see that there are these labels that categorize how America takes a part in the world. I had not known the meaning of unipolar world order; I found out it is administering power where only one state is in control of the cultural, economic, and military influence around the world. It is nice to see that centuries ago the world with the only division being from different countries among each other and were working together. There was a form of unity with everyone and…

"A Multipolar World" discusses how the US is not longer the sole superpower of the world. Other nations such as China, Russia and India are rising powers and they all want to see their countries grow more in power. Other nations want to expand their markets and increase trade with other countries, instead of just trading with the US as their main importer. This has lead to fewer countries just focusing on trade with the US and more with each other. The US also had a string of foreign policy failures such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Foreign oversees wars drain America's economic coffers and lead the US to a much weaker path. Nations such as China and Russia want to…

Personally, I think the caricatures of two major countries shaking hands with Putin is interesting because they're both agreeing with each other because of Putin, but they won't agree with each other directly. They can't really trust each other. Anyways, these three countries are important for people outside these countries to understand the dynamics of the multipolar world because of how useful it is to be on a powerful country's good side. They are superpowers. I think the usage of the word multipolar is funny because of how it's not even a word, but it gets an idea through. Since the last 70 years have been peaceful for the majority of the world, it is important to realize that in…

As noted in the article, it is essential for countries, especially ones that have alliances with countries known to have more power, to understand the dynamics their allies have with one another and act accordingly. This also has immediate ties to our class discussions on international trade policy. It is noted that the American economy was nearly half of the global economy but as late as the early 2000s it shares the title of the largest trading partner with another country: China. This is also followed by the general trend that America is losing out on its comparative advantages to Asian economies. to combat the rise of tariffs and taxes imposed on imports and exports in and out of the…
